Within the framework of the regional campaign “Sustainable Climate”, implemented by the Arab Center for Sustaining Civil Action at the Misr Al Khair Foundation, 30 training and awareness workshops were implemented by 13 Egyptian and Arab partner associations and civil society organizations.
The "Sustainable Climate" campaign is one of the activities of the Arab Center for Sustainable Civil Action, affiliated with the Misr El Kheir Foundation, and is implemented throughout the Arab world and in all governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the aim of raising environmental awareness of climate change issues, highlighting the importance of reducing the carbon footprint, and consolidating the concepts of sustainable development, in support of achieving Egypt's Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals.
The main themes of the workshops included:
• Introducing the concept of carbon footprint, methods for measuring it, and mechanisms for reducing it.
• Discuss the effects of climate change on individuals and societies.
• Presentation of adaptation and mitigation mechanisms to changing climate phenomena.
• Linking sustainable development goals to local environmental action.
The most prominent workshop outcomes:
• Training of 800 participants from various categories (representatives of civil society, youth, students, and others).
• Coming up with a number of practical recommendations and proposals related to environmental behavior within each local community.
• Measure the carbon footprint of organizations and individuals and come up with a number of suggested recommendations to reduce it.
These workshops come within a series of awareness-raising interventions implemented by the Misr El Kheir Foundation with the aim of building the capabilities of local communities in dealing with environmental and climate issues, and supporting the transition towards a more aware and sustainable society.
