Al -Kabbaj launches the National Volunteer Prize as an annual tradition

Yasser Badri 12-29-2021 The celebration of the International Day of Volunteering at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization was held today under the slogan "We volunteer for our common future" in the presence of Dr. Nevin Al -Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Mrs. Elena Banova, the resident of the United Nations in Egypt, Mrs. Nada Naja, the representative of the United Nations Population in Egypt, and Dr. Heba Wafa, representative of the United Nations Development Program, and Dr. Naima Al -Qasir, representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, Sheikh Hassan Bou Hazaa, President of the Arab Volunteer Federation, Major General Mohsen Al -Numani, former Minister of Local Development and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Life Makers Foundation, Dr. Mohamed Kamal, Director of the Blanc International Egypt, Dr. Talaat Abdel Qawi, Member of the House of Representatives and President of the General Union of Private Associations, Mrs. Heba Naseer, Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers Program in Egypt, and Mrs. Enas Hamad, a representative of the United Nations Program for Volunteers, And a group of representatives of NGOs in Egypt. Al -Kabbaj said in her speech that the draft national strategy was launched, the strategy that included expanding the concept of volunteering to include all age groups, and the creation of a mechanism to coordinate efforts between volunteers and volunteer opportunities with the use of artificial intelligence technology tools to facilitate finding and applying for volunteer opportunities as well as promoting digital volunteering and opening the door for volunteer initiatives. The rights of volunteers and the correct practices of volunteer work, as well as equal opportunities between volunteers, especially females, ensuring the protection and support of volunteers in remote areas, developing laws to support volunteers in their activities and allowing the calculation of volunteer hours for university students and schools, and integrating the issues of volunteering with curricula in order to encourage and raise the percentage of volunteer work within the university categories and schools. In her speech, Al -Kabbaj emphasized the role of the Egyptian civil society and that it is the third rib in the development process that is based on the public and private sectors and civil society. Mrs. Nevin Al -Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, also announced the launch of the National Prize for Volunteers, which will be an annual tradition, during which the best volunteers are honored in terms of effectiveness and influence on one of the important issues faced by Egyptian society. Al -Kabbaj added that the award will be allocated next year 2022 for the best volunteer activities that preserve the environment and limit climate changes. The celebration witnessed the announcement of the winners of the National Volunteer Prize for the current year 2021, which was presented by 206 volunteers, as its main topic was "the national volunteer efforts to reduce the effects of the Corona virus's pandemic", and six volunteers won it. The celebration concluded with a concert in which the great artist Hisham Abbas, celebrating the International Day of Volunteers, participated.
