About the Arab Green Volunteering Club
The 2022 International Volunteer Report issued by the United Nations Volunteers Program on the state of volunteering in the world indicates that the monthly number of volunteers around the world reached 862,378,600 volunteers aged 15 and above. According to the report, the monthly number of volunteers in our Arab countries reached 26,201,390 volunteers. This volume of Arab volunteers can become an added social and economic value for sustainable development and climate action in the Arab region if it is properly employed and invested.
However, the report points to many challenges facing the growth and investment of volunteer movements in the Arab region, including the lack of opportunities available to qualify volunteers, the absence of mechanisms to monitor and develop their practices, and the lack of opportunities to support their community initiatives...etc. in addition to the weak role of volunteers within Arab NGOs and the ability of NGOs to attract volunteers and invest their efforts in developing local communities.
Hence the importance of this club, which aims to be a platform between the Arab volunteer and support the direction of civil society organizations to integrate the concepts of sustainable development and climate action into volunteer work and spread the culture of green volunteering, in addition to working to confront the challenges facing volunteer work, most notably qualifying volunteers and developing their volunteer practice within our Arab countries.
Our Goals:
- Spreading the culture of volunteering among Arab youth and linking their initiatives to sustainable development and climate action.
