Goal 8 of the Sustainable Development Goals: Decent work and economic growth

Goal 8 is about promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth and providing employment and decent work for all.
Multiple crises put the global economy under serious threat. Global real GDP per capita growth is expected to slow in 2023, and with increasingly difficult economic conditions, more workers are turning to informal work.
Globally, labor productivity has increased and the unemployment rate has declined. However, more progress is needed to increase employment opportunities, especially for young people, reduce informal employment and labor market inequality (particularly with regard to the gender wage gap), promote safe working environments, and improve access to financial services to ensure sustainability and inclusive economic growth.
In 2022, the global unemployment rate declined significantly, declining from a peak of 6.6 percent in 2020 to 5.4 percent, as economies begin to recover from the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic. This rate is lower than the pre-pandemic level of 5.5 percent in 2019.

Goal Objectives: Decent work and economic growth

1-8 Sustain per capita economic growth in accordance with national conditions, in particular at least 7 percent annual GDP growth in least developed countries

2-8 Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technology upgrading, and innovation, including by focusing on high value-added and labor-intensive sectors .

3-8 Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent work opportunities, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services.
4-8 Improve efficiency in the use of global resources in consumption and production, gradually, until 2030, and strive to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the Ten-Year Framework of Programs on Sustainable Consumption and Production, with developed countries taking the lead

5-8 Achieving full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including youth and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value, by By 2030

6-8 Significantly reduce the proportion of young people who are not in employment, education or training by 2020

7-8 Take immediate and effective measures to eliminate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking to ensure that the worst forms of child labour, including their recruitment and use as soldiers, are prohibited and eradicated, and that child labor in all its forms is eliminated by 2025.

8-8 Protecting labor rights and creating safe and secure work environments for all workers, including migrant workers, especially migrant women and workers in precarious jobs.

8-a Increase support for aid for trade to developing countries, especially least developed countries, including through the Enhanced Integrated Framework for Trade-Related Technical Assistance to Least Developed Countries.

8-b Develop and activate a global strategy for youth employment and implement the Global Compact for Job opportunities issued by the International Labor Organizations by 2020.

First: Conditions for applying for the NGO Award

1. The association must be declared in accordance with the Civil Associations Law, and no less than three years have passed since its declaration.
No judicial rulings were issued against it, and the association reconciled its situation in accordance with Law No. 149 of 2019.
2. The association’s final account for the last fiscal year should not exceed 20 million pounds.
4. Nominations are submitted by civil society organizations and associations on their own, without being nominated by other parties.
5. Commitment to the deadline specified for submitting nomination applications. Applications submitted after the end of the application period will not be considered.
6. The nomination will not be accepted unless the applicant completes all forms and provides all attachments required in the advertisement. (According to the award guide)
7. Submission must be made from the Tanmwi 2030 platform only.
8. It is not possible to nominate winning projects during the previous session, although it is possible to nominate winning associations during the previous session with other projects.
9. Associations cannot submit projects funded by the Misr El Kheir Foundation.
