This charter was launched in light of the regional campaign “Sustainable Climate,” which was launched by the Misr El Kheir Foundation in May 2022, with the cooperation and sponsorship of many local and international organizations and government agencies.

The campaign aims to support the expected role of Arab civil society organizations in confronting the repercussions of climate change within their national framework.

What we have in our hands is a proposed draft document for the Climate Action Charter for Arab Civil Society Organizations, one of the products of that campaign. The charter includes a system of main rules and principles that can govern future paths of action for us as Arab civil society organizations in supporting issues of sustainable development in general and climate action in particular, and in a way that ensures that our future plans take into account that crucial issue without regard to our priority field of work and practices and taking into account the nature of each civil society organization.

We, as representatives of Arab civil society organizations, within this campaign, associations, work networks, and federations, call on all Arab civil society organizations, in all their organizations, from non-governmental organizations, professional unions, community associations, federations, and various work networks...etc.) to view That draft of the Climate Action Charter document, discuss it, hold a community dialogue about it, and join in activating that system of rules and principles and ensuring their implementation in the organization’s activities and projects, so that we can enhance the contributions of Arab civil society in supporting issues of sustainable development and climate action.
