The project is considered a lifeline to confront the challenges faced by families who have children with psychological and mental disabilities due to their lack of knowledge of how to treat and rehabilitate their children. Therefore, the Foundation established a communication and rehabilitation center targeting children with mild psychological and mental disabilities, raising awareness and family counseling. A center comprising 15 halls was equipped and established at Tamkeen’s headquarters, and 15 doctors and specialists from the Department of Mental Health at the College of Education were assigned to work at the Tamkeen Center. In fact, work was done in parallel between (training 75 psychologists, skills and communication specialists, and receiving children with various disabilities. Fortunately, Tamkeen received 500 children in the first stage. At this time, the College of Disability and Rehabilitation Sciences was established, and it was the first of its kind in the entire Middle East. It was supported by Tamkeen by establishing rehabilitation laboratories and treatment halls with a donation from Tamkeen. Professor Dr. Ihab was assigned the delegation of the college, and an agreement was signed between the college and Tamkeen for practical training for all students at Tamkeen. In addition to increasing the number of Tamkeen Center’s staff to 38 doctors and specialists, Tamkeen has received more than 2,000 children and implemented 45,000 rehabilitation and treatment sessions so far..
From the follow-up and evaluation, the center's management of doctors saw that there are cases that require daily care, rehabilitation, treatment, and education
It found cases that could be integrated into education, achieve results, and integrate into society. It recommended that Tamkeen establish a nursery for children with psychological and mental disabilities. Tamkeen has already licensed the first official nursery, prepared and equipped with all the tools and scientific and practical needs to achieve the highest level. Results..
The nursery began work by receiving 7 types of disabilities and integrated the disabilities, which achieved positive results that were far greater than we expected. Within the framework of these results, Tamkeen is now expanding to increase the number of beneficiaries of the nursery, as the number waiting has reached 400 children. ..
With follow-up and evaluation, we found that the mothers of the children were waiting in front of the nursery from 8 a.m. until the departure time at 2.30 p.m. The doctor recommended that the nursery director buy some vegetables and food to give them to the mothers to prepare, provided that they were bought back at double the price to help. Indirectly...but we held a meeting to improve the idea until it comes out in a manner befitting, with self-esteem, and with proven ingredients to achieve success, God willing.
And from here began a simple, integrative idea to address a problem that was worrying us about wasting mothers’ time waiting for their children in vain and protecting them from the gaze of passers-by on the street. Tamkeen rented a headquarters directly in front of the nursery and equipped it to become a production project that generates returns. Madi is for mothers that helps them with life’s challenges and their children’s needs.
We have created two departments (food production and tailoring), where food production will produce daily and healthy meals for the children in the nursery (the mother cooking for her son), and the production of clothes, tailoring and repairing clothes, and tailoring the needs of the children in the nursery and the centre. Tamkeen will market the project to achieve a return. It covers the cost and generates a satisfactory return to support them in their needs.
